Daily geography games, compared
Daily geography games are a great few-minute habit, but they test very different skills. Here’s what each one asks of you, and where Farflung fits in.
Farflung: find the answer nobody else will
What it tests: breadth. Each of the five daily prompts has many right answers, such as countries the Danube flows through or countries that border exactly one other country. You score by how rare your right answer is, so it rewards knowing the long tail: microstates, island nations, exclaves and overseas territories.
Best for: players who already know the obvious answers and want a reason to dig deeper. Play today’s expedition or read how it works.
Guess-the-country games
Worldle
Guess a country or territory from its silhouette. Each wrong guess tells you the distance and direction to the answer. Tests shape recognition.
Globle
Guess the mystery country on a 3D globe, which colours each guess by how close it is. Tests your sense of where countries sit relative to each other.
Travle
Connect two countries through the shortest chain of neighbours. Tests your knowledge of land borders.
Tradle
Identify a country from a chart of what it exports. Tests economic geography.
Practice and exploration
Seterra
Map quizzes for countries, capitals, flags and regions. Ideal drills for learning the small countries that win Farflung gems.
GeoGuessr
Work out where in the world you are from street-level imagery. Tests clues like road signs, vegetation and architecture.
How they work together
The skills overlap in useful ways. Travle trains the border knowledge behind Farflung prompts like “Pin a country that borders Kazakhstan”. Seterra drills help you place the microstates and island nations that score Elusive and Farflung answers. And Farflung’s reveals, which show every right answer with a note on the gem, feed back into the rest.
Building a daily geography habit
- Keep it short. Two or three daily games take ten minutes or less.
- Learn from the misses. Every miss points to a gap. Look up that country and you’ll remember it next time.
- Compare with friends. Everyone plays the same puzzle each day, so shared results make a friendly competition. Farflung’s shared result shows your distance without spoiling the answers.
